#IBM Format

does anyone out there know where I can get s/w to format disks to IBM
format? … cheers!!
… Dano
Dano,
You can get a program called CrossDos, by Consultron, that reads/writes
and formats disks in the IBM format. If you don't have AmigaDos 2.x you
could update to it and get CrossDos at the same time. It is now included
with the OS. Otherwise purchase it separately and get with it CrossPC
which allows you to emulate in software a PeeCee, albeit a very slow one,
not recommended for use with non-accelerated Amigas. Look in AmigaTech for
a couple files that let you do the same thing. CrossDos is highly
recommended and is very inexpensive. Consultron has great support too!

Well, it sounds like the only thing we can't do right now is access the
Photo-CD images, everything else is available already in one package or
another. Renaissance Design is a DTP package, PhotoEdge is like
imagemaster or ADPRO. PhotoEdge is like Photo Access plus the abilities to
edit the appearance of images. Renaissance is page layout.
Time to call KODAK is now if you haven't done so already. Please be firm
but polite.?

CrossDOS will format IBM-format disks. You can get it at your dealers for
about $20-30, or if you have 2.1 OS, it is already part of your system.
—Betty
Hello Bets … think there should be an amendment here … I'm actually
communicating from London … as far as 2.1 OS is concerned, no one has
seen it over here … everything I've heard about 2.1 is from CI$ …
thanx for the info
… Dano
I'm surprised that you don't have 2.1. Do you have 3.0?
—Betty
Well Betty … most of you peeps over there seemed to be rather advanced,
rich or extremely lucky … firstly I'm in UK which makes Amiga products
slow to appear … plus stuff over here are extremely expensive … a
standard A4000 would set us back about 2300 pounds, dunno how much that's
in US$ … probably the most important factor to me is the fact that I'm a
student and we've always got a large hole in our pockets!! …
is there any chance of getting 2.1 from the states via post … would it
also require a newer KickStart? … are better still do you know any
dealers here who might have them … I don't really wanna ask C= cos
they're hardly helpful over here … speak to ya soon Bets!!
… Dano
back again 2 days later … guess what I've finally found a dealer over
here who is doing 2.1 … according to him it has been over here for quite
a while now … unfortunately no one seems to be advertising it, weird
ain't it!! … well before I upgrade to it, can you please point out the
distinct difference between 2.04 and 2.1 … thanx!! … see ya
Dano,
where have you found 2.1 onsale in the UK, I've been looking for a few
weeks and haven't found it yet.
Bob.

Keywords: MSDOS13 V1.3 OLAF SIEBERT MESSYDOS CROSSDOS
This new version of MSDOS, version 1.3, can place an index mark needed
by some MS-DOS disks, no longer produces read error messages when a
bootblock cannot be read (just ignores it), more polite to dfx: which is
used for AMigaDOS as well, and reduced the stack sizes considerably.
