Anyone w/PPage 4.0 know whether the on-screen image display works only for TIFF or also EPSF and the rest? The wording in the brochures doesn't seem to make that too clear (to me, anyway). *** jd, using AP from LA, CA!

John, In re-reading the Gold Disk brochure it DOES sound like it only supports the TIF image, if included with the EPSF. But it does mention direct edit support via hot-linked PDraw to edit Adobe Illustrator and Freehand files. Now I'm wondering if that is Adobe Illustrator 88 files, or version 3.2 and Freehand 3.1? Does this mean a newer version of PDraw and another update fee? I just did both in July '92. I called GD's 800 number but the lass that answered was a non-knowledgeable PPage features order taker only person. Chris

We will display all mentioned graphic file formats (this includes EPS files, in that they will display as a grey box unless they include the TIFF header which is then diplayed). We will allow you to EDIT only the AI and Freehand EPS files–which are converted to ProDraw format so you can use ProDraw3.0 as it is now. Philip Laitar Manager

Philip, That sounds good to me, how is the release date coming? Getting close? So we'll see on screen the actual graphic as long as it is GIF, TIF, PCX, BMP, or TIFF attached to an EPSF, but only editable are the AI and Freehand in PDraw 3.0. How about the bitmap paint program? Will we be able to Hotlink those other formats over there? Is PCX like PICT or is pict different and not supported at this time? Thanks for the clarification, Chris

Chris, No, the included paint program is only for 32 or less colour IFF bitmaps. PICT is a Mac format and will not be supported in this release version. Philip Laitar Manager

Philip, Why has Gold Disk, a multi=platform software manufacturer, taken the position that now one wants to output any format from ProPage/ProDraw other than ProPage/ProDraw formats? It would seem in the best interest of the company to allow EXPORT to all the formats that you support for impport. Otherwise, people who own Amigas and are working on a part of a project that will be integrated with peices done on MACs or PCs, (or who do part of them work and pass it to someone with a PC/Mac for final editting) will be FORCED to buy "the other Amiga DTP solution". And some of us who own and upgrade Gold Disk DTP software will be forced to stop using (and upgrading) since we cannot use it in situations where it is necessary to share our work electronically with other platform users. wmc – via Autopilot!

Wow!! Glad I've got my upgrade on order. This looks really good, especiallay the variable zoom, 2 page edit and page shuffling. Pete from Dorset in Englands West Country – via Whap!
