Can anyone out there tell me about the new 3DS renderer for the Silicon
Graphics computer line. Specifically, I need to know if the SGI renderer will
take advantage of the graphics engins in the Indigo 2 extreme or if it only
uses the CPU. If it does only use the CPU then is it just as good to use a
lower end Indy to render on or will I still get better performance on the
Indigo 2.
Thanks in advance.
Derek
The 3DS renderer for the Silicon Graphics will take advantage of the CPU and
RAM only. Performance will be optimal with the fastest CPU and the most RAM.
SGI renderer will not take advantage of the graphics engines in the Indigo 2
extreme, it only uses the CPU & RAM.

Derek,
The SGI renderer just uses the CPU. The Indigo2 does have faster
processors available, and better chip cache.
