Elva: Welcome to the NEC CDR-25! I used it on my A3000 (same probs as you) and my A2000 until it broke. Thank goodness. Then I replaced it with a Chinon and have had no problems. But…here some tips: – I used ASIMWare CD software. – Let everything "quiet" on the SCSI. The NEC seemed to hang if I went too fast with the mouse. So I took everything nice and slow… – I turned on the CD _after_ the computer was up and running. Put in a disk and _waited_ again. Then I executed a "dir cd0:" command. That usually brought up the CD-ROM icon. However, the NEC would still "lose it" after a while. The ASIMWare docs stated that the NEC-25 has a weird SCSI interface that's not quite compatible with the Commodore hardcard, so it may be the same the Dataflyer. Good luck! Nick

Interesting. I have an NEC CDR-25 and I've had no problems running it with my 2 internal Quantam hard drives using GVPScsi.device and AsimCDFS. I am able to turn it on with my computer, with or without disc and it works fine.

Nick, thanks for the reply, I suspected the scsi in the drive might be the prob since all the cdrom filesystems availible here acted the same,, I think I'll just find someone local who can use it. thanks again,
