Can anyone offer advice on installing the 3.1 ROMs in my A1200. I've had them
in and out several times in different configurations, starting with the way the
instruction page suggested, but no luck. The old ones work fine. I've now had
them in and out a couple times too. Seems risky.
The chips are labelled U6A and U6B. The socket toward the
peripheral-connectors side is the U6B, called "upper" in the docs; the socket
nearest the user is labelled U6A, called "under" in the docs. I've oriented
the notches toward the notches on the socket, leaving the first socket holes
empty omn the left side of the ROMs.
This is how the instructions appear to read to me. The task isn't so tough but
is a little scary. I don't want to inflict a problem on my Ami!
Thanks,
Ken
You may have dodgy ROMS, are you sure they are a1200 versions? Are they from
Villagetronic (the only distrubitors the last I heard)?
Unless the docs are wrong (everyone else would have found this) it must be the
ROMS. Did you static protect yourself (I don't know if you can screw a ROM by
blasting it with static).
