Betty,
My sister-in-law would agree with you. She is a pharmacist in
charge of a drugstore in the Fort Worth area, I think. (Note change
of city.) We got some of that vicious weather just a few miles north
of us in Anderson Hills subdivision. My soon-to-be 17-year-old son
has been helping to clear up the debris. He and his friends on the
United Way Youth Council got together to help out. The damage has
been compared to the November 15, 1989 tornado that wiped out Airport
Road in Huntsville, AL itself. This recent tornado went through on
Thursday, May 18, 1995. Fortunately, there has been much less loss of
life.

We Texans can certainly empathize with anyone who is victim of a tornado.
Lancaster, a small town just south of Dallas, was hit very badly by a
tornado in April, 1994. A few weeks ago, I was over there and saw
that much of the stricken area, while cleaned up, is still bare. It
can never again be what it was, because most of the part that was
destroyed was the oldest part – lovely old gingerbread houses built
about a hundred years ago, and the old buildings that formed the town
square. Not many are rebuilding.
