I've always wondered about Video Director. Does it control devices with
infrared remote? I suppose I could have called the manufacturer, but I never
had an urgent need to buy it. However, I do have an application which could
possibly use it. Drop me an E-Mail.

I have the Video Director and although it does have an infrared controller,
it's used to pause and unpause your record deck. The real power of VD seems to
be if you have a Sony 8mm camcorder. Because it has a Control-L connector that
will find and play your selected source clips. Without the Control-L on your
camera, you might as well do the whole thing manually, in my opinion.
So, until I get a Sony camcorder, the VD sits on my shelf. I don't think you
can use the thing in infrared-only mode (I'd love to be told other- wise).
But, I've heard that if you do have the Control-L, it works pretty well.

Thanks for the response. It is very valuable to me to know that I can log on
to this users forum and get information from great people like yourself.
VideoDirector may not be the ideal solution for my application. It's good to
find that out before one spends the money on it.
