#Anim to Mac conversion

Can any one tell me if there's something available to convert Anims to a Mac
format?
Rick
XV probaly can but you need lots of fastram to use it,and a program like
macconvert to turn it to a mac readable file and a hd drive, amicdfs filesystem
to write /read mac disks.macs use quicktime format with the anim inthe datafork
Hi Lepido,
No, actually I don't have a Mac, I've got a 2000 with the Gforce 030
at 40 Mhz, 2 meg of chip and 6 meg of fast RAM. What is XV? I want to
take anims from DPaint and convert them for viewing on the Mac. Also
want to do the same for the PC. From what I understand Image FX will
do that for FLI/FLC formats in any resolution. I have Image Master
but i think that can only do it in lo-res. My purpose is to create
pictures and animations for use in Demo disks and MultiMedia
applications. I'm doing some 3D also in Lightwave, but I just do
simple stuff that I load the frames into Brilliance to create anim
files with it. At first I was disappointed to hear about the release
of DP5 soon after getting Brilliance. But from what I've read in the
forum here. It seems that Brilliance was the way to go. From what I
read about DPaint 5 it sounded like they had implemented alot of the
animation features that Brilliance was smart enough to put in. My
problem is that I'm so used to the Dpaint interface I've found
Brilliance ackward, and have gotten frustrated, and gone back to what
I know in DPaint. I had discovered a couple features DP 4 has that
Brillinace does not such as Anim Fill. There was something else that
I kind of did alot of in DP that Brilliance wouldn't do but I can't
remember what. But from what I've read from others, I seem to be the
only one complaining about these differences. I will say however I
have found Brilliance excellent when it comes to loading 24 bit
images and reducing them to 16 colors. Also the text feature is
excellent and makes it very easy to do quick titling. Also the ability
to load a sequence of frames to create an anim file is a breeze
compared to ADPro or Anim Workshop. I quess I shouldn't complain
about it too much since the things I've just mentioned are almost
worth the price of it alone. Although the first reason I got it was
for it's infamous speed which I did not find to be that great except
for in a couple of functions. But I understand some of my limitations
being in my 2000. I understand it is much better in AGA machines.
Back to my conversion to Mac files. I don't think I need to write to a
Mac disk since Macs can read PC disks and I've got Cross Dos for
that. Besides I think uploading to a Mac, which is probably what I'll
be doing would solve that problem as well. I've heard of Mac using
Quicktime. Is that the only anim format for Mac? Not sure what you
mean by the datafork? also, what is AMICDFS. Is MacConvert shareware
or commercial software?
As you can see, I'm a little confused.

Brilliance in my opinion sucks, overated, and it waste too much memory.I have a
1200)Xv is an X11 library +Mui 2.3+ Graphics coversion/manipulation that
handles quictime movie files (.mov) that the mac can play back.Though youneed a
program to read Mac disks,A high density floppy drive, and a program to convert
amiga files to macninary and then another to turn mac binary to it's data and
resource forks on the mac.FLc/fli/avi/mpg/mov/cin anims only support lowres
resolution,aNd so does most Other anim formats.Mac software doubles the 320 x
240 anim to full size.Xv about 600k in size, available here and needs about 4mb
of ram,I think.I have'nt been able to use it yet cause i only have 2megs chip
on my 1200.XV also suports some 24bit cards.
You are trying to compare Apple's to Orange's. Brilliance is a Paint and
animation package and doesn't claim to be anything other than that. Xv is a
file conversion/pseudo-image processing program, period. You are blaming
Brilliance for not doing the things you would like because you only have 2MB of
chip memory. Not a very fair evaluation!

But i could do more in mainactor cause it takes up less memory.SO how much
memeory woud be needed to create 30 frames of ham images/for 200+ of 8bit
lowres/hires/overscan anims?
I'm interested in looking further into Xv. Is this a program for the Amiga?
Why do you need to read Mac Disks? The Mac with Dos 7.1 & up can read PC disks.
Using Cross Dos on my Amiga with my Hi-density drive with PC writing ability,
the Mac can read that disk. Couldn't I take an animation in anim 5 format or
the IFF frames of that anim or frames from lightwave that I want to convert to
quicktime, use Xv to convert to a Quicktime Movie and save it to a PC formatted
disk to be loaded into a Mac software that will use it?
Rick
Then you don't need a mac disk reader, but a program to convert macbinary
files.Xv could probably do it,but you will need lots of virtual memory which it
supports vmm,Since they probably are 24bit files,it would take longer than
usual if they were 8bit quicktime movies.YOu could have then at 320 x 240 and
use something like Movie Player to play back full screen on the mac.It probably
can but I think it uses up 1mb of fastram for it's libs, etc which makes ir a
mem hog
If you want to animate, brilliance is not that good ,only i think for creating
animbrushes, making dctv anims, though i don't have adctv to use it with.
Brillance is great for animating , any animation, on any computer needs ram,
you can't blame Brillance because you can't afford fast ram.
if you're using a macintosh I wouldn't know of any.if using/have access to a
pc,get macindos for windows,hijaak graphics suitte 3.0
