the Amiga is capable of playing back 8bit sound files using its internal
capabilities so you don't need any special hardware for that. You may need
special software for playback though, depending on the type of file you want to
play…

The best player I have found is called Eagle Player, although, there are other
players that would work fine. Eagle player supports the most formats. I believe
that it is in one of these forums.
