Here's an idea for Lightwave PC How about a new style camera. A camera which renders an image to fit the with Quicktime VR or MS surround video. This way images would not need prior manipulation to fit in the programs Alan

Alan: Are you saying, have a data base of pre-designed camera settings? That is a good Idea. Although the Camera settings are easy to use the way they are it would be nice to be able to just click on Mac or Matrox or what ever device you are going to use. Brad Hayes Hayes Visual Communication

Yes, in the sense the camera would render the image in a different manor. This is what I mean. First Quicktime VR and Surround Video are are a way of treating an series of images to act as one contineous image. The one image is not seen all at once. It acts as if it surrounds you. You must pan sideways or up and down to look arround. Imagine if you made a walk though of a house. The images are not rendered in real time, they are setup like a slide show only logical order. (Like the game MYST) If you stop at any point, you can look up down or all arround. It acts like a real time rendering, but its only scroling throught an image. Second, to made this image work, you need to take a series of images arround the camera, all proportional, and then sew them together in the VR software. Or another trick (right now this only works with real pictures) to use a camera which takes a 360 degree image and distortes the middle to fit inside a circle. This special camera is actually what I am talking about. Because to do this right now requires a good amount of set up and alignment. It is not terrriblly difficult, but it would be cool to just render straight to that effect. If anyone knows of any other special camera settings to include, then yeah, New Tek could make a database for LW. I hope this makes sense. Alan
