#Editzer

Gary,
I recently saw a demo of the Fast Machine. Its basic configuration sells for
about the same price as the Editizer. The Fast Machine will also control my
S-VHS machines via the 9-pin RS-422 interface. In addition, it has features
like wipe effects and titling etc.
Here's my question. Why should I buy The Editizer instead? For the price, it
probably does something that I'm not aware of. Or does it?

Bill,
I believe the FAST product you are speaking of in this price range is the Video
Machine Lite. VM Lite is a good product for what it's intended to do. But you
cannot put your program out from that system to an EDL (Edit Decision List),
which means you cannot do an *off-line* version to be *on-lined* somewhere
else. This is a vital feature basic to any system that must serve you in the
professional arena. If you will not need to communicate with the rest of the
video industry via the accepted industry standard EDL formats, such as Editizer
provides, and if you will be happy with the switcher effects that FAST has
chosen for you and you will not want to control external devices such as other
switchers, audio mixers, ADAT machines, etc., then VM Lite is probably suitable
for you.
