Project Management 101?
1 messages in this thread
Hello. I work for a major printing company and over the last two years
we have created a media center. We have a modest staff of 3 full
timers and 1 technical content expert on loan from another area of
the plant. We are developing In-house training material such as
instructional videos (output to tape) and interactive CD-Rom's. We do
everything in-house (Content research, Content writing, Information
design, System interface design, Graphic design, Video shooting,
Video editing, Audio recording, Audio editing, 2D animation (Nothing
to fancy), 3d animation (flying words and pictures) and authoring). We
do hire a local talent for the narration voice. We have lots of new
equipment, time and resources are not problem. The questions I need
answers too are as follows:
1.) How does the size of our staff (noted above) compare with your
staff? (for those of you doing anything similar to what we are doing)
2.) Who on the staff determines who does what? and do responsibilities
change for an individual from project to project?
3.) Is there any way you can give me an idea what wages are accpetable
for a person performing 1 or more of the previously metioned task?
(Wrting, Video shooting, Aurthoring, Graphic Design, etc….)
4.) Do any of you feel that it is absolutely necessary to have a
project manager, Art director.etc…?
5.) Isn't it true that a project manager must be able to juggle and
balance between: Individual creative freedom for staff, maintaining
continuity and meeting deadlines on schedule? What is the background
necessary to be a project manager?
6.) For those of you doing multimedia development do you have staff
members working on 2 or more tasks for the project or is it better
for them to focus on single task?
As you can see we are faced with a pleasent problem; GROWTH. Please
help if you can by replying with your opinions or directing me to
available resources —> Thanks in advance.
