Hello, I just had a CD burned of a recently developed interactive multimedia project so I could test performance of the quicktime digital video. There is two different types of compressions (Cinepak and Animation) used for the quicktime digital video. When I play teh CD the cinapak movie is fine but the movie compressed with the animation compressor studders in both the audio and video, can you help me figure out why? I analyzed the movies with Premeire 4.0.1 and here are the results: ****Cinepak compressed movie****** Movie: File name is "SSVOFLT.MOV" File Size is 38.2M Average Data rate is 141.5K per second It contains 1 video track(s) and 1 audio track(s). Why is there so many dropped frames and why the weird durations? This movie consist of Photoshop 3.0 generated still pict images] Please help me get to the bottom of this problem. PS – This project is cross-platform and I get the studdered effect on both mac's and pc's. I have tested on many different machines and have noticed that the aster the machine the less noticable the problem is but it is, none the less, still there on all machines.

QuickTime is a file format only specifically designed to handle video in an orderly manner. Any number of Codecs will work within that QuickTime file format, including; Cinepak, Animation, Indeo (yes Indeo), Truemotion-S, M-JPEG, Apple Video, etc. Sorry, I can't help with your rea question. I don't have experience with this animation codec. Of the cuff I'd say, don't use it. I suspect it is just a throw-in by Apple and is a less efficient compressor. (Cinepak is a bundle more than a throw-in.)
