Any number of Codecs will work within that QuickTime file format, including; Cinepak, Animation, Indeo (yes Indeo), Truemotion-S, M-JPEG, Apple Video, etc. Sorry, I can't help with your rea question. I don't have experience with this animation codec. Of the cuff I'd say, don't use it. I suspect it is just a throw-in by Apple and is a less efficient compressor. (Cinepak is a bundle more than a throw-in.)
