One thing about your client's DOS 5.0's memory question which I didn't see
mentioned — PharLap 2.x will use XMS or EMS. Since 3D Studio and AutoCAD
and Animator Pro use PharLap code sewn into them, this will affect our
products.
If the system has both it will use EMS memory only. Thus, 3D Studio may do
a lot of paging to disk on a system with a lot of memory, when the amount
of available EMS memory is low.
If you REM the EMM386.EXE line, or specify more memory on that line in the
config.sys, you will get better performance.
The advantage of QEMM is that the memory can be dolled out as XMS or EMS as
requested, at the time of the request. EMM386.EXE requires that you
specify it at bootup. Some values for EMM386 may not be optimized for all
programs.
