I understand Commodore was bought by a large German firm and that they will resume production on 4000s. Said to introduce one with a 68060 processor. Company owns hundreds of computer stores in Europe. Haven't heard about USA distribution.

Hi Stu – The German computer chain Escom, with some 200 retail stores in Germany, has taken title to the Amiga technology and inventory and plans to begin manufacturing Amiga's under contract to a Chinese corporation. Prior to their purchase of Commodore, Escom had also purchased the largest computer retail store chain in England. There is some talk that Escom has started negotiations with Commodore UK, to either contract them for European distribution, or purchase them completely. Escom has indicated a desire to enter the US PC market, but felt they would just be another PC clone manufacturer. Now, with the Amiga, they feel they have a flagship product that will give them an edge. Although CEI is open to assisting with US distribution, there has been no word of Escom/CEI talks yet. Escom may want to do it on their own. Further, they have indicated that some 18 months has already been spent developing the PowerPC version of the Amiga, so it may be ready soon.
