US-NY-212 Interactive Technologies Mgr, Electronic Publishing DESCRIPTION: Interactive Technologies Manager in a multimedia electronic publishing environment: ** Oversee and advise on interactive product development ** Solve technical problems during all phases of product development; implement processes to insure the technical integrity of interactive products; oversee software and hardware testing; analyze bug reports and recommend updates and fixes; coordinate flow of information between customer support team and product teams; serve as technical liaison between development teams and other groups; participate in project meetings during all phases of development; evaluate potential software developers; assign developers to projects; create and/or review functional specifications and contribute to product design; recommend core technologies for projects; assist with demos and training; advise on hardware and software purchases and upgrades. ** Oversee issues of technology direction, transfer and support ** Recommend, review and report on significant new media innovations; respond to requests from product teams for information and/or advice on technical issues; create and oversee an online knowledgebase of reports, technical notes, and related commentary; work closely with technical staff from sister companies and disseminate information to product teams accordingly; coordinate regular meetings of technical staff and multimedia producers to review new technologies and lead discussions on developers, development tools, and techniques; maintain expertise in all interactive technologies including (but not limited to) delivery mediums, digital assets, operating systems, platforms, online, media servers, development tools, languages and networking. ** External liaison ** Attend industry meetings and conferences; form and manage partnerships with technology providers such as Apple and Microsoft to bring pre-release technology into product development and help establish the company as a "player" in the industry. QUALIFICATIONS: Hands-on experience with programming and technical supervision of interactive and media-intensive consumer software. Working knowledge of digital video processes, animation, audio engineering and optimization. Working knowledge of tools and techniques. Experience with multiple platforms, particularly Windows and Macintosh. BS or MS in Computer Science or similar degree, with a minimum of three years directly relevant industry experience.
