#Animation Program

Hello All,
I am trying to put together a Video studio and would like some advice on
animation packages. I had originally planned to go with the
Toaster/Flyer/lightwave combination, with a Raptor 3 workstation. It appears
that there is a lot of trouble with the Flyer/Toaster combo, so am now
rethinking about going with Media 100. Also, I can get a Mac 8100/100 with
112meg ram for about the same price as the Raptor with 32 meg. From what I
understand, for NLE and rendering, the amount of ram is where the power and
speed is. My question is, is there an animation program as good as Lightwave
4.0 that I can use with the Media/Mac system. Also, if anyone knows, what do I
need to add to the Media 100 $9000 version to get all the bells and whistles
and bring it up to top. TIA

Terry,
For 3D on the MAC, look at Strata Studio Pro, or Electric Image.
Remember though, if Power MAC's become NT capable, you may be able to use LW on
them in the future!
I don't know anything about Media 100, but I do know that some of the
key New Tek folks jumped ship and formed a new company called Play, Inc. And
they're developing a new digital FX engine called Trinity that wowwed people at
NAB. You can reach Play, Inc. at 800-306-7529. Before you buy a MAC, I'd
suggest you give Trinity a good look.

It's starting to look more and more like I will be Pentium based in the new
setup. It has a number of things that I like. The main one being that the
market I have in mind is all Intel machine based. The Pentium will allow me to
write that programs and render the animation on the same unit. Any ideas on
animation software for that? And, how you get from there to SVHS tape in the
end? Thanks for the previous message. I'm at *such* an entry level, any info at
all is sorely needed.
