At a recent users meeting I was told that a -persistance monitors' disadvantage is that it has a ghost problem with movement. Does this mean that animation would smear with a HP monitor or when scrolling text? If so, this makes 640×400 almost useless unless one writes or draws with colors of little contrast.

the smear problem isn't so bad with text – it might be a little annoying with graphics. to see an example of the smear, watch an ibm monochrome monitor while text scrolls. –Scotty
