We did it again! Just started a nice new thread about digitizing negatives, and now we're talking about movie cameras – which are also being discussed on a thread called "Video Equipment" (#73400, etc.). Can't win … The reason I'm using 16mm. is that I already have all the equipment from my "pro" days – not just cameras, but lenses, editor, rewinds, splicer and all the other stuff you'd need. Assembling an outfit wouldn't be cheap (there's still a lot of 16mm. film being used professionally), e.g., I saw a Bolex H16 Rex V body advertised the other day for $795 U.S. ("body" = "no lens"). If I were starting from scratch, I'd get a *good* Super-8 silent camera – Super-8 sound killed that market, and then home video cameras knocked out Super-8 sound, so there's a lot of good equipment available cheap (and film is about 1/4 the price of 16mm!). Alan Harding used Super-8 for "Infinite Loop". Have a look in the camera stores in Vancouver and let me know what you find – once we know what's available, I'd be glad to help you choose (a Beaulieu 4008, Canon 1014 or Nikon R10 would be nice!).
