Thanks Doug. I really appreciate any help I can get. I am still somewhat of
a novice. Both my son and I are Amiga owners. I have the A2000 and he has
the A1000. As you know I installed a bridgecard, parallel port, i/o card
with two serial and one game port, memory expansion board, 30 meg Seagate
(partitioned) and another 5.25 drive. Everything works fine. I have also
been experimenting with jlink.sys. I have discovered that it is possible to
make df1: an ibm d: drive r/w and then make e: drive a r/o drive
(simultaneously). I have not tried to run a formatted ibm store bought disk
yet. Do you know anything about how jlink.sys works?
I still have not heard any comment from anyone about attaching an 3.5 drive
to my bridge card and converting a 34 pin edge connector to a pin connector
(rs232 type). I have a friend who builds IBM computers and he loaned me a
3.5 internal drive to try out on the bridgecard. I would like to make it an
external drive like I did my seagate 236 HD. My friend is quite fascinated by
the Amiga and simply cannot believe it will do what it can do for the price.
Let me in on any other tips you might have that would help me become more
proficient with my A2000.

No, you can not use an IBM formatted 3.5" disk in one of the Amiga
drives and have it read via JLINK. JLINK doesn't create IBM compatible
files, what it does is create a single AmigaDOS file, that is structured
internaly as if it were a complete MS-DOS filesystem. There's a big
difference between what is on a JLINKed file and an MS-DOS disk.
As to how to cable an edge connector to the db23 on the back of the
BridgeBoard…both the Amiga 1010 (external 3.5" disk drive) and the Amiga
A1020 (external 5.25" disk drive) can be plugged into the db23 and work just
fine…so I presume the pinout of the db23 is the same as the pinout of the
external drive connector on the A2000. Look on page A-12 of the A2000 manual
for the pinouts.
Compare that with the signals on the edge connector and you should be
able to figure it out.
Thanks Don. You are always there when I need you. I will get to work on the
edge connection bit right away. I also have another question. Assuming I am
able to reconfigure the 3.5 drive, can I plug it into the back of the Amiga
5.25 1020 drive? It would work better if I could daisy chain it with the
5.25.
