#Starboard2

Betty,
Well I bought all the 1.3 versions of Kickstart, WB, and extras
and tried out Starboard2 using the upgraded versions. I ran dungeon
master and sure enough I encountered the same problems. I also ran
videoscape 3d and the system crashed. Is there something basic I
am doing wrong? The memory check was completely successful and said
all the chips were working.
Neil,
Please describe the situation for me again. I cannot recall what your system
consists of. I believe your memory is in the Starboard2, but do you have a
1000 or a 500? What else are you running? Have you tried running these
programs with nothing at all in the machine except the most necessary stuff?
Whenever something is giving me lots of trouble, I try removing every little
extra I have put on, then run for a day or two with a plain machine to see if
the problems stop. If so, I add back the favorite stuff one item at a time,
and give a day or so between the additions. Usually, this will help me find
the programs that conflict with each other – and that seems to be what is
happening to you.
Oh =- are these two programs the only ones giving you trouble? Or does
EVERYthing crash?
Betty
Betty,
I own a 1000. I have tried removing my modem, my extra drive, etc.
but it did'nt help. I have tried numerous programs and they usually
crash but once in a blue moon some older games like archon and one on one
work. I talked to some one else and he said the older 1000's, which I
own, need some PAL chips grounded on the daughterboard. This requires
soldering and can not possibly be done by me. I fear this is the problem.
Any more suggestions would be helpful.
thanks NEil
You might try running FastMemFirst (or SloMemLast) before running DM.
