The net it's being written for is the arcnet, which CBM bought the license
from Ameristar (I believe). Arcnet is better than ethernet in larger
topologies, because the token-passing scheme gets more efficient (and thus
the transfer rate doesn't erode) as opposed to ethernet, where more nodes
mean more overhead doing collision detection, and your throughput suffers.
