That depends on how CBM handles the licensing agreement. If commodore
licenses the hardware, but does not license the OS then market share for
the Amiga would be helped and not at CBM's expense.
However, if they license the OS as well, then CBM would lose control over
the Amiga technology, and though market share would increase, CBM's share
of it would decrease.

At the press conference, someone asked Irving Gould if CBM planned to
license the chipset, if this thing really took off. He said yes, but you
could see the wheels turning in his head… "If CDTV takes off, sure, I'll
sell the chipset to anybody who wants it… who cares, I'll be richer!"

Not necessairly…if Commodore licensed both the chipset and OS,
but required that no modifications be done with either..then they'd not
lose control.
They'd be in the position of having to compete with clones, but one
would hope they could effectively compete in such a market.

And if they couldn't, it'd just mean new and better machines for the users,
Amiga or AmigaClone! the more AmigaDOS machines out there the better, with
or without C= name upon them!

They mke their own chips, so even a boom in clones would probably let them
sell huge numbers of chips before anyone else was able to start
