#ANIPRO & ATI
3 messages in this thread
Bob,
I just wandered into this forum. How can I get literature and ordering
information on the Autodesk Animator? Is this the program with which I can
create .fli files. I've used these but don"t know how they're made.
Ray
you will want to stay away from any dealer selling animator since it not
supported or selled any more. the replacement for animator is the explorer
software. but better yet is the animator pro software. well animator (the
original may be supported) here but not many people use it any more.
animator pro is the latest version, i would forget about the explorer ver,
since its just a rebudled ver of animator.
basicly a waste of money, get animator pro. its worth the money. exporer is
not.
i have all the versions .. animator,explorer , animator pro,3ds1 and 2 if
you want to get into animation then get animator pro and 3ds2.

'Scuse me, Mr.Egbert?
Ray,
Since your inquiry is about Animator, I'll address that first.
If you are looking into the Animator (Classic) program, don't. If your
corner software store has the Animator on the self, it's probably right
next to the Multimedia Explorer. The Explorer is the better bargain.
Major differences between the two, you might ask?
Animator (Classic) = 2D paint & animation package.
Price = $495.00(list)
M.M.Explorer = Fully functional Animator (Classic)
Windows player utility
Animator Clips – canned clip-like .FLI routines.
5.25", 3.5" & CDRom media formats included.
Price = $195.00(list)
Support for either product is direct from Autodesk Product Support.
It says right there in the Reference Manual – Appdx.B – Pg.242.
415-332-8942 – Animator/Explorer only, please.
If you want literature, give me a call. I'll send you literature for our
complete M.M. product line, and answer any presales question you have. Ask
for me, Bob, I'm the only Bob on the M.M. support lines.
Now, if you're NOT on a tight budget, $795.00, you might consider the
Autodesk Animator Pro. This is a 386-based 2D paint and animation program
that has expanded on the Animators qualities.
A few features:
* Hi-res graphics via VESA driver supported S-VGA graphic boards.
* Ability to Load and Save varied file types.
* Utility programs for Video & Hardcopy output.
* Screen capture utility.
* POCO programming support for customizing special commands.
that's a few of the key pluses. Here's the Cons:
* Sold ONLY through Authorized Autodesk Multimedia Dealers.
* Supported through the same dealer, who can contact us on your behalf,
or conference you.
Sorry about my long windedness.
I hope this answers your question.
