Two members of our club are looking for printer drivers. One seek a NEC LC-08
laser printer driver and the other is looking for a Brother HR1 driver.
If anyone knows if those drivers are available or if anything could replace
them, please let me know.
If nothing is available, would someone give me a brief overview (or tell me
were to find the information) of how we should procede to write those drivers
and how tough that job could be?

I haven't seen drivers for them, but you can check DL 11. Also, in DL
9 you'll find a printer driver generator program where you can "roll your own".
It's called PRDRGN.ARC.
