NEC Intrsct PKG Commnts?

I just purchased a NEC Intersect CDRROM kit which features a NEC CDR-36
external SCSI drive, and an 8 bit SCSI adapter card. I have a number of
questions about this combo:
1. Is this drive MPC compliant? Its data transfer rate is 150KB/Sec, and
its
seek time is <500Msec average.
2. The SCSI card is an 8 bit card. If I connect the driver to PAS-16 card,
which has a 16 bit SCSI adapter, will I get better throughput?
3. Is the CDR-36 drive better than the CDR-25 drive I've seen the fusion
kit
from mediavision/nec?
4. Will the 8 bit SCSI card conflict with my PAS-16 card?
Any other comments on this package will be greatly appreciated! The price
was GREAT, $249 at Electronics Botique.

The PAS-16 and the NEC card are both much faster than the drive. Either
SCSI card will give the same performance.
The CDR-25 is the equivalent of the NEC CDR-37, which replaced the CDR-36.
It's a little faster and MPC compliant (the CDR-36 isn't unless you upgrade
it to a CDR-36M).
The PAS-16 and the NEC SCSI card will happily work in the same computer
together.

It seemed like the CDR-36 had better specs than the CDR-25? Anyway, how
does one upgrade the drive to a 36M? Do I need to send it to NEC? Thanks

The 'M' upgrade, if still available, comes from NEC. Call them at
800-NEC-INFO to find out more about it.
I found out from NEC that it is no longer available, so I returned the
drive to the store.
