Using multimedia CD Roms such as Time Almanac or Grollier's Encyclopedia,
I'm finding that the audio/video clips are choppy. The sound and pictures
start and stop. I can live with the video problems, but I'd at least like
to keep the audio clear. I'm using a Sony drive with BSR label from DAK
which I obtained about a year ago. I assume the problem is that the drive
is to slow. Is there any way to correct this problem other than replacing
the drive. Would a cache program do any good?
Ron, I have a similar CDROM that I bought from DAK. I also have the Grrollier
MM Encyclopedia and had a simlar problem. What I did was but CD Speedway (a
CDROM caching program) and set it up with a 12 meg CD Cache. Those long video
clips will take awhile to spool into the cache, but once there, you will get
a nice, smooth audio/video combination. I'm running a 386-33 and find the DAK
drive most useful for what I use it for.
