Andy, Thank you for your answer. I was pleased when I read that someone is doing the same thing that I want to do. Ouch!, draw the 2d animation, scan and clean and paint it, is a hard and long process (ok, 2D classic animation is a hard and long process too), but you can save steps with Animator Pro and a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet. I'm planning to use this. First, make the 3D Truecolor background Animation in 3D Studio and save it to disk. Then gray out the background and take it to APRO. Wonderfull, a gray highresolution animation and 240 (aproximate) colors to play (for each character). You can save now each character animation separately, ready to be plugged in the main truecolor animation and render the final animation to tape…if you find the software to do it (I know, 3DSr2 CAN but I want a low cost program -for now-). Ana I cannot give you a full answer without trying it all out but it is possible that PICLAB could help you. It is a Shareware program, I found it on that amazing "Hot-Stuff" CD but it is probably on several Forum libraries. It would have to be batch file driven but it will allow dissimilar file formats to be rescaled, overlaid or combined and resaved. At least that is my reading of the docs and anyway it won't cost much to try it out. – Grahame

Ana After my first reply I tried PICLAB it will do the job but not seamlessly :-(. However Gary read your message more carefully than I did, see his suggestion elswhere. Also how are you laying to tape, remember "video post" is for people with no access to -complex- video overlay functions. Your needs are very straight-forward and should not add too much to the bill at tape laying time.
