Bruce, while i agree the amiga has a number of problems (like a terrible low res mode and the awful GUI under WB1.x), it is actually a fairly decent machine. Commodore aside <g>. I am a multi-lingual programmer who got tossed into a CDTV project a year or two back. I was suprised at some of the nice things the box does. Like giving you a REAL multitasking OS & ability to write multi-process applications. Of course, most of this good stuff is hidden away, such that you need to spend a LONG time learning the tricks (esp if you play with the copper list for some fancy graphics effects or learning the blitter, etc). We wound up hiring an amiga expert (who is kinda weird <g>). Another neat thing about the Amiga, is its ability to run DOS and MAC software (with appropriate add-in cards). I'm impressed with the box, completely disgusted with C=, and still using my PC and Mac. like you say, the bottom line for the '90's is to be platform independent as possible. There are some things only an SGI box will do, and somethings that an amiga can do just as well, but for a fraction of the cost. Having the ability to supply & use both (plus PC & Mac tools as appropriate) is a BIG help. I even found a use for an old Atari ST recently (it converts MAC fonts to GEM format, which is used by GENUS PCX tools). Jerry
