#DCTV & View 3.2 – Help!

Hi, I am having problems viewing DCTV format pictures. I am using View
3.2. I didn't used to have this problem. In fact, just a few days ago I
was able to do it just fine. Now when I bring up a DCTV format pic, it is
not decoded right or something. It looks all wierd. I'm not sure how to
describe it. Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be one of the
LIBS? Help!

View has the same problem on my machine. You must use the arrow keys to
position the screen correctly.

I never had this problem before! What happened? I did kinda notice that
the screen was a little off-center. Will I have to re-position it every
time I view a picture? That sucks! Thanks for the info!

Are you using WB 2.0 or 1.3? in either case use the prg in the prefs of WB
to center the screen and SAVE and then yer problem SHOULD disappear exir
Yeah, I did use the prefs under 2.0 to center the screen and that was what
started the problem in the first place. So, I ended up puting it back to
where the screen was before to correct the problem with View. I don't know
what else to try…

Isn't there a way we can save different overscan screen positions that can
quickly be changed with a script? I think ENV has the data. Then you could
just have the script automatically set the screen for each program, View,
DP IV, DVIII, Cando et al.

Man, you got me… I am not a programmer by any means. It sounds like a
good plan. Using some kind of tool type to center the screen for each
individual program… I have no idea how to go about it though… It is a
pain in the rear to live with a non-centered screen but in order to do a
slide-show with DCTV, View must be centered to a 0,0 position or the
default Prefs setting. It's a great idea. Maybe we can get someone in
AMigaTech to do something about it… ???

Paul, Go into preferences and adjust the screen the way you want it.
Instead of clicking on the save button – hold the right mouse button and
use the menu choices at the top of the screen. Make sure the save icon
option is turned on and save the screen position with a descriptive (but
short:) name. Save the file in the env directory and then select leave out
from the workbench icon menu. I do this for many preference settings –
especially printer stuff. I have a line of icons on the right edge of the
workbench which can be used to instantly reconfigure preferences with a
simple double click on the icon This is not an ideal solution but it sure
beats wading though preferences every time you switch programs Hope it

(Good name!) I found the problem! It has to do with your overscan
settings in prefs. I just remembered that the problem arose right around
the time that I offset my screen to the exact center. After I put it back
to 0,0 and loaded up View, there was no problem. I no longer had to use
the arrow keys to correct the DCTV problem. This is definately a bug that
the View author should take care of. Make sure that the View program looks
at the screen offset settings and adjusts accordingly.

Sorry! I have Flicker Free Video – 2 and it has its own prefs settings.
You are running WB 2.0? If so, go into the Overscan prefs settings and
move the screen the SAME direction that you are having to use the arrow
keys.
In other words, when you load a DCTV pic into View 3.2 and it comes up all
wierd… if you have to use the right arrow key as I did, move the screen
to the right. If you have to use the up or down or left arrow keys or any
combination, move the screen in those directions. It may take a while to
get the screen exactly centered for View, but you will notice that the
number of times you must hit the arrows will change as you change the
screen centering.
Originally I had to hit the right arrow 7 times. I moved the screen to the
right a little. I tried View again and I only had to hit the right arrow 3
times. So, you have to use trial and error. If you are running WB 1.3, go
into the PREFS and use the screen centering gadget there the same way.
If you still get stuck, let me know! I was so glad that I figured out what
was wrong! I think it was a big pain in the butt! Good luck!

Thanks for the tip…but I think I'll keep my screen prefs the way they are
now…and deal with using the keys to move images under View.
