Does anyone know if the following are pipe dreams or reality? The source
claims it is from an offical press release.
If it is reality it looks like the future is colourful… 8^)

This part is just speculation and well-informed rumors, but it sounds
pretty confident…
CDTV-II has Amiga Portable motherboard (AAGA chip set and 16-bit
stuff,68020), runs double speed, to support Kodak Photo CD and Philips
CD-Interactive standards
They're all complete and utter rubbish.
It seemed believable to me because it wasn't all that farfectched from
what C= had been talking about (ie, no triple '030 processors). It was
also wishful thinking on my part. But then, C= doesn't produce new
systems that quickly, especially when they are cutting staff. When I
first heard about the AGA line I didn't believe it.
Oh, well. Maybe one day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. As I mentioned to the others I didn't
believe the initial AGA reports so I was ready to believe almost
anything.

That post was on USElessNET a couple of weeks ago, while it does sound
very intiquing, I doubt that C= will release a new high end machine this
quickly after the release of the 4000. To release (or even announce) such
a machine now would all but kill 4000 sales.
I do love reading these rumors though!

Oh, good old wishful thinking. I was excited by the laptop announcement.
The existing AGA chipset is fine but I want to take it with me. Well,
maybe one of these days.

The opinion on this forum on the A5000 suggested it was an April Fools
thing.
About the laptop and the CDTV.II, now both of them are interesting!
I use an Olivetti Quaderno laptop – functional enough but overpriced for
what it offers. I would dump it staright away for a proper AMIGA laptop –
any indication of prices?
CDTV I gave up on after all the hype and no machine and then a machine
being produced that could not follow an upgrade path. Being CDI compatable
is a good move and would make me think again on it.
A computing hobby is certainly an expensive hobby!!!

Yes, it was the laptop that got my attention. Currently my 2000 is on a
wheeled computer table so I can sort of move it from room to room but it
is a far cry from actually being able to pick it up and go somewhere.
Propably I wouldn't be able to afford a new laptop but I sure would try if
it became a reality.
Computing IS an expensive hobby. But then again, so is something like
stamp collecting and I think computing is more fun. 8^)

I got the info on ProText and it seems fabulous! I called and got more
info and it seems to be just what I've been waiting for. If you leave me a

Okay, I'll fax it to you. The latest version is 5.5 and it costs $100 +
$5 S&H. It appears to have everything WP has except a Thesaurus, plus it
has many things no other Amiga word processor has. I would like them to
add a Thesaurus for the sake of completeness, but actually I very rarely
use the one in WP.
It supports direct macro-recording within the program and appears to be
the most powerful text word processor for the Amiga. The reason I'm
upgrading from WP is that WP is not supported anymore and ProText still is
and is a more Amigatized program, with a 2.0 look and feel. And it's fast!

Got your fax, man that does look like a top end WP for the Amiga!! I
take it that you are going to get it? PLEASE post your feelings about it
when you recieve it (send me Email). I just Friday broke down and bought
Final Copy II. I really do like it, but as you have stated before it is
nowhere near as full featured as what is available for Windows. This
Protext does look good though. It doesn't say much abbout its graphic
support though other than it supports graphics. I wonder if it is on
screen or what? If you say it lives up to the ad you sent me I will have
to sell FCII and give it a try!

ps..Just got a flyer in the mail for Word Perfect 6.0. It looks pretty
hot to and for the intro prive of $129! I just got a 386 BB just for this
reason (quality business software). If I were just a millionaire!

Yes, I'm getting ProText. I'll post my impressions here where everyone
can see it. I was going to call you after I sent the fax, but I received a
phone call and when I got off, I thought it was too late.
ProText is not a graphics word processor, but the sheet did say
something about graphics support. I'll let you know about it after I get
the program. It does look extremely powerful.
BTW, I also got SBASE4 Pro. It's a great program, too. Keep in touch.

The latest issue of Amazing Computing (July) has a review of Wordworth 2.0
AGA which you might find interesting also.

Thanks so much, but I read about Wordworth 2.0 and it doesn't appear to
be what I'm looking for. Even though WordPerfect didn't have such a
great-looking interface, it was very powerful. If I change to a program
with LESS features, I'd feel like I was trading down and not up. So far,
ProText is the ONLY program I found that has more text features than WP.
All the others have much less.
