… now I know a little bit more about my problem with GPFax. Disabling the printerdriver from the icon (noprinterdriver=true), and all works fine. But I need this feature for sending FAX from FinalCopyII. This is probably a BUG in GPFax? Thanks for help. Reinhard Duczek

No, it DOES sound like a printer driver version mismatch. Check to make sure you put the right version of the GPFAX.driver in your devs:printers drawer. Mine is 3680 bytes in size and dated 28-Nov-92. I'm using "GPFax 2.30 Supra 7.4.93" myself on a 2.1 equipped Amiga 3000. // Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot….. \X/

No, I have the same printer driver. Also on my Amiga 3000 OS2.04 all works as expectet. It is problem with the Amiga 4000 or the OS 3.0. May be, an Amiga 1200 user could tell me about same problems? Greetings from Hamburg an thanks for all your replies! Reinhard Duczek

Reinhard, I'm using an A4000 with GPFax and a Supra FAX Modem. Let me know the problem and configuration and I'll try to dup your efforts on my machine. Clark -|- Williams –O-o-O– Via George

Clark, I could not run GPfax (V 2.3) with the printerdriver active. That means I must set in the tooltypes the parameter NOPRINTERDRIVER=TRUE. If I change this later in the option menu to printerdriver ON GPFax hangs. BTW I am using the NON SUPRA Version ( Generic CLass 2). Though I could never use GPFax printerdriver. Have nice sunday Here in Hamburg (Germany) we have really a warm sunny day. Reinhard Duczek

Reinhard, My version of GPFax is 2.23. (Not the Supra version) When I "startup", my printer driver in SYS:Prefs is set to NEC_PINWRITER. I'm using the parallel port as the printer output. My printer graphics in SYS:Prefs is set to (Top-left to bottom right): Ordered, Fraction, Positive, Horizontal, Black & White, 5, 3, Smoothing ON, Center Picture OFF, 4096, Left Edge 0, Ignore, 0, 0. I'm using the following GPFax options: Auto Answer, Log Report, Printer Driver, WB2 Icon, Res-Fine, Make Icons, Image Scale, Form Feeds. And of course I have the GPFax: assign in my User-startup and all the GPFax support software is in the GPFax: drawer as required by the manual. Except the gpfax.driver which is in the DEVS:Printers drawer, and is NOT selected as the current printer device. (You probably already know this, since this is the first thing to check on.) Now lets compare that with what you have on your system and see where the differences are. Clark -|- Williams –O-o-O– Via George

Reinhard, The programmer for GPFax for the Amiga, can be contacted through CIS into the Internet network. It is Richard Carde rc@splat.aarnet.edu.au Richard is the programmers partner. I use Autopilot for the Amiga to access CIS and it allowed me to contact Richard ref GPFax about a month ago, with a reply in about 24hrs. BTW he is in Australia. Hope this may help as a last resort, if you blokes cant figure out the problem. Laurie Carroll AKL NZ Longdistance Autopilot

Not really, it's just another update. A nice one though — it adds support for the features of Supra's latest non-caller-ID roms. // Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot….. \X/

Reinhard, have you tried leaving a message to Supra (the last PPN I have for them is 76004,565)? While they didn't write the package, perhaps they can guide you in the right direction. Brian

Be sure you're not CHOOSING the GPFax.driver from Prefs or Final Copy. Choose your normal printer's driver. GPFax will find its driver and substitute it automatically. — Ron Legro, Milwaukee via AUTOPILOT. (the only way to fly)
