#LW & EPS
8 messages in this thread
Does anyone know of a way to convert an EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) file to a
LW object without first converting to a bitmap?
Not yet, though the next version of Pixel 3D is rumoured to have an EPS
loader.
If you find one, tell us all.

Yes there was once a program called Autoscript. I dont beleave it is made
anymore, but it would convert and EPS to a Sculpt 3D file, that could then
be converted to LW3D

Mike,
Find someone that has Aladdin 4D…it can load up EPS files (at least,
well behaved ones), and save them out in .GEO format.

If I remember correctly, Softlogik's TypeSmith will load EPS which you can
then turn into a char in a PS font. Then, if you have LW3.0 (Toaster
4000) I believe you can type PostScript directly into LW to get a flat
object for extrusion/further editing. (Some of the people with the beta
systems can verify that for you.) Also Unili Graphics is working on a
generic postsript to LW object converter. Right now I believe they will
do that conversion for you for a nominal charge, but I don't know if that
applies only to fonts or if EPS is inlcuded in their effort as well.

RE: Postscript in LW.
Yes, 3.0 will allow you to type in whole strings of postscript text and it
will create the objects for you. There are even macros that will
automatically extrude and bevel the text (among other things…)

Thanks, John. I thought I remembered that from the show, but I wasn't
sure.
BTW, did you see the Bandito rumor about the complete TPaint rewrite in
the Toaster 4000 software release? :^}

I didn't see the Bandito column yet, but remeber…. Rumors are just
that…
