Jack, Can you remember where you saw the review for the Pinnacle drive? Have you heard anything positive or negative about the performance recently? I am considering buying one shortly and am looking for people with current experience. Thanks, >>Brad<<

Other than it was in some June issue, no, I can't recall where I saw the first looks review of the Pinnacle (too many magazines come in, too little time). However, the company has an excellent long-term reputation for doing good quality products and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their products if I needed it. So far, my Panasonic 7010 has been keeping me happy, but it's not also compatible with the 600 meg IS0 standard that Pinnacle claims to be (in addition to its own proprietary 1 gig format), and that would be handy. As I use them for backup, for storage of large graphics files, and for storage of large fixed database programs I like to have around but don't need on the system constantly, the highest speed isn't as much of a factor to me, but the 7010's very fast overall. I haven't any idea how Pinnacle achieves its high speed; there must be some really major hardware cacheing tricks in there….
