#Targa images on Vista
4 messages in this thread
I have rendered out 200 frames of targa images at 512X486 with an aspect of
1.26 . I took these images to a company that uses 3ds2 and a Vista board.
They just got thier equiptment and when they pulled up my images they were
distorted. they only way I could figure out how to render my images onto
thier Beta SP machine was to use the Video Post. They are using a diquest
board. Is there any way to use a Vista board and my images without hav
having to use the Video Post. Thanks, Rock
The Vista aspect ratio is totally different than the Targa aspect ratio.
That's why the images appear different on each board. If you don't want to
use Video Post to sequence them out, you can load the images as a
background and use an .ifl file to sequence them through, making sure that
the Rescale button is on in the Rendering dialog.

Ah yes, the dangers of using an inexperienced service bureau! There is no
problem using an AT-Vista at 512×486 with an aspect ratio of 1.26.
In fact, due to the internal workings of 3D Studio, you will get better
results doing that than re-sizing or rendering at 756×486.
That is how most of our work has been done since 3DS 2.0 first came out!
Doesn't matter if you are going to Beta SP, Laser Disk, or Hi-8, it's just a
matter of knowing your equipment.
Let the buyer beware! Know thy service bureau!
