I own a video toaster and have a corrupt IFF file called "Sphere".
This is included with the Toaster. Do not know how file became
corrupted. I have con- tacted NewTek. They informed me that partial
reinstallation was not possible. Yet I had an idea that with DOpus,
I could find where the original "Sphere" was located, delete version
of it on my hard drive, and replace it with original. Of course, if
original came corrupted, this will not work, but worth a try, no???
Only thing that scares me is do not want to F**k up Toaster, excuse
language please. Anyway, would appreciate some feedback on this.
I have been very busy so I have not checked out all of the features
of DOpus, but I find your program a godsend, very fair price and does
so many things, it has helped me out immensely.
Can DOpus compress files??? I looked for it in manual index, but
could find nothing. I would like to upload Toaster framestores to
Comp, but I am unfamil- iar with file compression. Have learned
about extracting, have most of the archives for extraction, but need
some help with compression.

have a look at DOpus's Fuction(?) menu (2nd menu). At the bottom you
should find three enties for compressing files. Usage: Have source
files in one window, destination directory in the other. Mark all
files to include in the archive. Select 'LHA add' (or similar) from
said menu. Enter archive file name (like 'MYARCHIVE.LHA') in the
requester that pops up and away you go! It might be necessary though,
to configure these functions (use config program from first menu) so
you have LHA (or whtever) in the right directory plus all the option
settings you need/want LHA to use. To unarchive use the pushbutton
in the second row from the right (title 'extract' or the like).
Again, you might have to configure it properly before being able to
use it as these are external functions/programs. Hope I could be of
some help there…
Tom…. The Toaster install procedure puts a humongous 10 meg file on
your HD. This is a compressed file containing nearly everything in
the 14 disks. Your best bet would be to find someone with a Toaster &
get the file from them. You could use Opus to do that easily enough.
That file sounds like one of the stock 3d objects. You could also
just delete it & recreate it in Modeler. BTW, how do you know the
Sphere file is corrupt? I've seen that sort of message when trying
to display the wrong kind of file with a picture viewer.
Thomas, sorry but DOpus has no "un-delete" feature to recover your deleted
file. I mean your corrupted file, sorry. Anyway, the other suggestions you
have received here sound pretty good. Good luck with getting the file back.
