John, I have taken out smartdrv.exe and so am responding again to make sure
that you recieve a response. Things have gotten a little scrambled. Anyway in
answer to your last question about the "soft-key", the "soft-key" is a software
by-pass of the protection block. Some legitimate users use them in place of the
block because the block interferes with products like lap-link, and some other
products. Unfortuneately, others pirate them and try using them with 3DS
without having paid for the product. 2.01a was modified as maybe was 2.01 so
that they only partially work with these "soft-keys". Your "Visitor", I think
was using one of these keys and that is why this person chose to remain
nameless. Needless to say I don't approve and so my provocative comment, "Ha..
Gotcha!" Take care, hope you weren't offended.

Bummer on the message glitches. What comm software is helping you achieve this
extra little bit of fun? I'm running dumb old Crosstalk for Windows and
composing everything off-line for a quick CIS zap – if anything goes wrong it's
entirely MY fault. <g>
Been using Smartdrive with everything since it was first released and I haven't
seen any problems…

I understand now. (not the least offended – too thick skinned and thick
skulled for that!) Yes, if piracy was at hand, Visitor 72074,15 may do well to
hide – I hear the Autodesk Terminators charging their batteries. Me, I buy
everything. Sometimes I forget what I have and buy two copies! <g>
I can appreciate the legitimate bypass surgery. I once spent over 40 hours
with a debugger and a pile of digital hardware resulting in a two-foot stack of
disassembly listings and the banishment of my stinking AutoCAD (r9??) hardware
lock. The silly (serial) thing had glitched my tablet communications despite
Autodesk claims. I'm a believer in the ultimate copy protection: Honesty,
which unfortunately seems to be harder to find every day.
