I read your message and want you to know that there are literally 100's of
libraries who have successfully networked CD-ROM products. They can be
networked on standard network operating systems like NOVELL. A couple of
excellent companies have products which facilitate network access to CD's. Two
of these, Meridian Data and Online Computers have responded to your question.

A consultant, Howard McQueen has helped a number of public libraries develop a
networking strategy. His approach is particularily good because he has no bias

The key in networking is to develop a plan for growth in terms of titles and
the number of users you want to support locally and remote if applicable.
Hardware and software choices will fall out of the strategy which you develop.
There are always the licensing issues and networking is fairly expensive.
