Thank. With the input from people on this forum and from looking at the various
systems, I find myself pretty well sold on the Mitsumi. The only thing that's
holding me back is the news that panasonic is coming out with an ultracheap
model of double speed drive.

Robert — I would bet that would hold you back — I hear Mitsumi is coming out
with a double speed model too. I would wait as these things should be out and
available within a few months. Hang in there.

Craig, Actually, I did order a CDROM this week. A Panasonic, as luck would have
it. it's a double speed for a very good price, $299 w/ interface. I've posted a
message elsewhere on the board with the particulars in case anyone else is
