I'm looking for a good way to reproduce some realistic lightning for a
logo-spin type intro on a local TV weather report.
I have the PLASMA IPAS routine, but since it eminates from a center point and
out in all directions, this doesn't yield great results for this application.
(a flat horizon, etc,) Also, the lightning effect I'm looking for will be
several 1 second bursts, not a constant pulse.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Simplicity is usually the best way to go. If you have Animator Pro, you might
consider doing a 2D flic of lightning there. Ani Pro gives you a lot of
control over color, and you can save yourself the complication of trying to
reproduce a model of lightning(!). Then apply the AniPro flic as a material to
an appropriately placed piece of geometry.
Well hello Oral! This is Joe Stratmann, I've talked to you a few times as I'm
looking at getting 3D Studio.
I saw your message on having trouble with lightning using the plasma IPAS
routine.
Let me know if you get it working as that is a feature I was wanting to use.
Good Luck!
Joe
