#Sources for Bitmaps

I am considering purchasing 3D Studio while I can trade up from AutoShade
renderman. One consern I have is surface textures and landscape. Working with
AutoShade I found my renderings were cold and hard because I could not create
realistic looking surfaces. Does 3D Studio come with all I need to render
images. I am an architect and so I am trying to create the kinds of surfaces
found on buildings and in landscapes. Will I have to purchase 3rd party
softrware to get the surfaces I want? Are there any bulletin boards that co
have libraries of bitmapped textures that I can down load and try like
sharewareerre ?
Not only does 3D studio come with a CD-ROM with a gagillion texture, bump, and
whateverelse maps, but you can create you own materials in any decent imaging
software like photoshop/styler, animator pro, etc… . And, yes, there are
third party materials libraries available, though I haven't yet tried any. And
with the flexibility of lighting, anti-aliasing, and shadow-bias in 3D studio,
you'll be nipping on the heels of those high-end SGI junkies in no time, if not
biting their legs off.
