Maybe I misunderstood the question… I thought the user was asking whether
there was a way around unmount, change CD, remount CD as physical actions….
Even using the fast NLM that you have requires these physical actions…

If you have more discs than drives, yes. The only way around this would be
some sort of disc changer. I would avoid these like the plague in a network
environment. Trying to flip two discs back and forth slows access to a crawl.
