<Was interested in your announcement of being close to publishing bi-weekly CD-ROM magazines.> <How complex are they? Text & graphics? What about video /audio? How much control do you exercise over the content files, etc.? Is this supplied by someone else, or are you responsible for the interface, etc? How feasible is a weekly publication on CD-ROM that includes text, graphics, video (short clips) and audio?> The first magazines (expected Dec. 93) will be lots of text synched to 256-color images, audio, lots of color signposts. Video will be available on on a special version running on a hand-held info appliance. The operating system is our proprietary PowerCD which was developed originally to capture the accumulated knowledge of schoolteachers. The video clips will be a V.2 addition in early 1994. The problem with Video is compatibility. Currently, a PowerCD application runs the exact same on a DOS, Windows, Mac and Sony MMCD. The video is difficult to do with a single data format on all of these platforms from a single disc. Next week, take a look at the ZCI section in the CD-ROM Forum.
