"FATS"? I haven't heard of this, what does that stand for? Maybe you mean
FAST! <g>. Could you give me models that you consider fast? As far as I am
aware, the Seagate Barracuda drives are the fastest (fatsest <g>). They can
transfer at a peak rate of 5.6MB / second, but that doesn't take into account
seeks, track to track seeks (during reads), or latency. These details make a
BIG difference on long reads.
And I'm not kidding myself, I do realize (as you say) SOME Amiga owners will
want or have these great drives, but a vast majority won't.

Well, that is just an opinion. MANY folks have been known to underestimate
the wishes of the Amiga community before.
Can't remember what drives we used to hang on the SS-10s, but they may have
been Elite II.
