#Take my Emplant, Please!
14 messages in this thread
Yeah, I'm sick of trying to make the stupid sucker work in my machine…
FOR SALE:
Emplant/Sybil Combination. Emplant has serial/appletalk ports, no SCSI.
Never has fully worked on my A2000, although others have been raving about
it.
Best offer; no docs (didn't come with any), will download latest version
of software for buyer.
ALSO for sale: Quantum 210S, the older "black brick" style. Not as nice
as the Pro240S that replaced it, but still mighty fast. Again, best
offer.
Both items in "nearly new" condition; Quantum has been babied, Emplant has
been pretty much a slot-warmer for some months 🙂

Jonathan:
Would you be interested in trading the Emplant setup for an AMAXII+
setup?
I've just gottten a 4000, and I WANT color on my Mac! :^)

The first thing you'll want to do if you DO swap you AMaxII+ for his
Emplant is to send it back to UU to have the SCSI port (and serial ports
if it doesn't have them) added to the card. It'll cost you about $50.00
for the update, but there have been bugs with cards that didn't have all
the included options installed.

Erik,
Sorry, looking for a cash deal.

I'll give you $125 for the Quantum, and I'll pay the shipping.

Branden,
$125? For that price, I'll keep it.

Jonathan-
Does the Emplant come w/ ROM's? Does it work in a 3000?

Scott,
1. Yes, it works in a 3000. If you high density drives, you are guaranteed to
be able to read high density mac floppies.
2. No, I'm keeping the ROMS. Sorry.
Thanks for the interest,
Jonathan
"I'm sick of trying to make the stupid sucker work…" Are you a salesman by
trade? 🙂
John,
Nope, honest. There is nothing wrong with the board, per se, but it does
not seem to like my Amiga setup very much. If you check out the UU BBS,
you'll find out that this is not uncommon. It really does not seem to
like GVP 3001 accelerators, for whatever reason.
Another problem could be my floppies, although they work great with
AmigaDOS (no problems *ever*). One is CBM issue, another is an internal
AIR drive, but it does not like either one very much.
I believe that if I waited long enough, or threw some more money at the
thing (get a real Mac drive, or get an HD floppy), it would work great.
However, my budget and patience have been exhausted on this project, and I
don't like Macs that much, anyway.
I've done a fair amount of selling/buying/trading on CIS, and have never
been burned, and have never burned anyone. I want any perpective buyer to
realize that Emplanting, no matter where the board is coming from, is not
a sure thing.

Just curious YYY you want to keep the roms if you are selling the emplant. DA
Don,
Keeping the ROMS in case a better solution comes along from Readysoft.
Since the UU folks are eating a good part of Readysoft's lunch, I expect
that they will be comig out with their own color Mac emulator, and it
will work *much* better than the Emplant.

I just wish they'd tell me whether or not they were coming out with one.
I told Raymond at ReadySoft that if he couldn't tell me that they were at
least planning on coming out with a color AMAX, I'd e buying an Emplant
within the month. Either he's real good about his NDA's, or they've got
awhile before it comes out….
Just my meanderings,
