#Pellucid

Has anyone heard of a company called Pellucid and their IrisVision video cards?
I received some literature from them and they sound great. I don't believe I've
read any feedback from anyone about performance. They have 3DS drivers bundled
with, so I'd think they must be getting some use somewhere. Just curious.
Try asking Pellucid @ 800/783-7472 or 408/987-0321.

Thanks Kevin. I just thought it unusual to have seen no one using
these boards at all when they sound very fast. They _do_ run around $3500 but
that price is probably not prohibitive for all on this forum (me, yes).
SGI dropped support for the IrisVision boards some time back – that's why folks
who were *stuck* with them are relying on Pellucid to extend the life cycle.
This *is* what we're talking about, right?

Sure is. I haven't spoken w/ anyone directly from Pellucid; so I'll give them a
call. Guess they just haven't made their way into the 3DS community yet.
You might also want to check out Pellucid's (MediaVision actually) Pro Graphics
1280 board, which was announced and demonstrated at A/E/C. It does
1280x1024x24bit with ADI 4.2 TurboDLD Classic drivers for 3DS & ACAD and costs
probably 1/3 the Irisvision, although don't quote me on the price, I think it
is less than $1000.

Thanks. Did Pellucid fold, get bought out, change their name…? Guess I'll
call for a little mo' info.
MediaVision acquired Pellucid.
