I just started to use WB3.0 last week and I have run into the same problem. I used the IconEdit from 2.0 to edit 16 color icons, but only with the default pallette. WB3.0 seems to only use four/eight colors for icons in some strange way. I have been able to use DPaint IV to make an eight color icon, but anything higher the colors are lost. I would like to program a good Icon Editor, but I do not have any info on WB3.0 on the the way it handles its colors. Let me know if you can find a way. G. T. Chionchio

Guy, Although the WB 3.0 operating system allows a workbench screen of up to 256 color simultaneously, the icons can only be 8 colors. That is what I said 8 colors compared to 16 colors of 2.0. Why they "degraded" 2.0 to do this, I am not sure. Any colors over 8 will be lost no matter how they are created. I was merely having a problem getting the colors from my 2.0 icons converted so that they appeared correctly as 8 color icons. I just used IconEdit and a program called IE which is available in AmigaUser. If you need any other help, let me know! Jon JDSoftware Jonathan Schmidt – On AutoPilot from CompuServe Land
