Pat: What is the best upgrade deal for Speedcache+? It comes free with the $50 Norton Commander 4.0 upgrade. Is there a better deal?

Currently there is only one upgrade deal available. The one you mentioned is for previous owners of Norton Commander. By upgrading to the latest version of Norton Commander you will receive The Norton Speedcache+ absolutely FREE. All previous upgrade promotions expired at the end of May. Pat. (Symantec)

Pat, I just happened to see your message about Commander. Just got the upgrade notice yesterday, and saw an article in Infoworld. I have used Commander for years, and love it. I have one question. Are the new viewers in 4.0 as fast as Commander 3.0? I also got Desktop for DOS, and was disappointed at the sluggish performance in file viewing, which I do a lot. The Infoworld article says "…made 4.0 fast and lean, making it ideal for portables" Inquiring minds want to know, how fast compared to 3.0? Also, is the program now shipping or just "announced"? Thanks very much, -=Rob=-

The Norton Commander 4.0 is currently shipping. It is comparable in speed to the previous version. The performance of Norton Desktop for DOS is more demanding due to the overhead of the graphical environment/Menuing System being used. You get The Norton Speedcache+ absolutely free with the upgrade. A $99.00 product free for the price of an ugprade is an exceptional deal. If you have a CDROM drive and at all interested in upgrading your exsiting Norton Commander don't pass this one up. You can get more information the Norton forum (GO NORTON). FYI. Pat. (Symantec)
