Thanks for the info on the Pioneer 604x. two additional questions:
Q1: any drawbacks or functions that other CDROMs have, that the 604x does not?
I have a price of $1200. How does that compare with what you paid/have heard
about??

I can't think of any drawbacks to using a 604x. $1200 sounds reasonable, but
you can probably save another $50-75 bucks with a little haggling.
